New Wiltshire development sees huge interest as homes open

Hunters Wood near Melksham is set in a beautiful part of rural Wiltshire.

A brand-new Wiltshire housing development from David Wilson Homes is seeing massive demand for appointments as three show homes opened last weekend and the homes officially launched for sale.

Hunters Wood, which lies off Spa Road to the south of Melksham, is set to bring 225 much-needed 2, 3 and 4 bedroom new homes to the area. Demand from local buyers is particularly strong with more than half of those registering their interest already living in Melksham and Wiltshire.

First time buyers Andy and Cerise Richardson and their son Marley were amongst the first people to view the new show homes last weekend and have registered their interest in buying a three bedroom home at Hunters Wood when it becomes available later this year.

Local electrician Andy, 34 and marketing assistant Cerise, 29, currently rent their home in Melksham and say it was the location, design of the homes and sense of space at Hunters Wood that attracted them.

"We love the design and layout of the three-bedroom Hadley which is perfect for family life with its large kitchen diner, separate utility room and spacious lounge. The bedrooms are a really good size too and there's both an en-suite and a family bathroom so it seemed like the perfect house for our family to grow into. We really liked the sense of space at Hunters Wood too, and the plot we're looking at has a good size garden and doesn't feel at all overlooked. The fact that a good primary and secondary school are both within walking distance is really important to us too, so we know we won't have to move again as our children get older."

Set in a beautiful part of rural Wiltshire, the new community of Hunters Wood is within walking distance of the market town's historic centre, shops, cafes and restaurants. It has good local schools and is surrounded by villages and open countryside. It has been named Hunters Wood to reflect the area's historic roots as a royal forest where Tudor kings roamed and hunted.

Builders have been back on site since July, with strict safety and social distancing procedures in place, and have worked hard to ensure the three stunning new show homes are now ready for potential buyers to see what their future home may look like. The first homes are due to be completed and see their first residents move in from spring next year.

The number of people registering their interest in a David Wilson or Barratt development in the South West increased by 60% last month on the same period last year. Meanwhile, Rightmove reported the highest level of house sales ever in August, driven by pent up demand due to the lockdown. With the government's recently announced stamp duty holiday in place until March 2021 now is an ideal time to buy a brand-new home.

The show homes at Hunters Wood are currently open by appointment only and with a full range of safety and social distancing measures in place.

Louise Ware, Sales Director at David Wilson Homes said, "Melksham and Wiltshire are proving incredibly popular currently, with people looking for homes and communities that are both well connected but within reach of the countryside and all of its benefits. These new homes will fit wonderfully with their surroundings here and our designers have worked hard to combine a traditional look with all the requirements of modern living. We're proud to be delivering much-needed, high quality new homes for the Wiltshire community."
